A Unilock update

Many years ago, this client had installed a nice paver inlay to accent their house entryway. Over time the Ohio seasonal changes took their toll on the pavers and workmanship. From the beating sun to the freezing and thawing, the pavers wore bland and settled in their aggregate. So the client decided to make an improvement.

We cleared all the previous material, excavating down so that we could poor a concrete pad for structural stability. This was a major upgrade over the original #8 Limestone base. Now finding a paver and color that would be a major improvement was a bit tricky. We wanted to find something durable yet carried a sophisticated feeling. Something to contrast the gray tone in the drive and accent the tans in the house, but also compliment the dark shade of the roof. So after much research, Brad chose to go with the Heritage Clay color from Unilock’s Townhall line. A bit skeptical that it could be too dark overall we had enough confidence to keep moving forward.

Brick after brick it was coming together beautifully. After laying them in a herringbone pattern to bring a little nostalgic feel we filled the joints with a tan sand to pull in the house color. Then taking a step back, looking at the overall picture...yeah, it looked sharp.

Overall we think it’s a significant improvement in both look and structure...as does the client.

Awesome design work Bradley and thank you for your expert help Milner.
